The Department of Justice has released of a new video, Overcoming Language Barriers: Creating Language Access Policies, Plans, and Procedures. Developed in coordination with the Interagency Working Group on Limited English Proficiency (IWG), the video is designed to help federally-funded and federally conducted programs comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI) and Executive Order 13166 (EO 13166).
The video is intended to be a training video for agency management, language coordinators, or other entities seeking to improve their ability to provide meaningful access to limited English proficient (LEP) individuals. The video closely tracks the Language Access Assessment and Planning Tool for Federally Conducted and Federally Assisted Programs, developed by the Civil Rights Division in May 2011. If you would like to request a copy of this video, please email LEP@usdoj.gov and indicate “OLB video request” in the subject line.
